iPad 2

As this is my first blog please be gentle with me. I'm new to this.

The iPad 2 was released for sale today in the States and there has been a lot of hype as to how good it really is. In my experience, Apple, can do no wrong. But then again I am an Apple convert. Over the past year I have taken the plunge and moved from the conventional PC to an Apple iMac, I own an iPhone and my work laptop is a MacBook Pro. So in this blog I may sound a bit biased.

A bit of background info into the iPad


The iPad 1 was released a year ago and was hailed as the next big technology in the IT world. It was a device that was instant to start and allowed the home grown developer to create apps that suited the every day user. It changed the way people looked at the hand held tablet device. The only down side that I ever saw was the fact that it didn't have flash installed, but you do get used to that.

A year on and we are onto the iPad 2


The iPad 2 has come on leaps and bounds. It is now 33% thinner and 15% lighter than its predecessor. It now houses an A5 Dual-Core processor making it 2 times faster. Within this smaller unit they have also maintained a 10 hour battery life. It has 2 cameras, one front and one back. This means you can take photos, record HD video and also FaceTime. FaceTime is basically a video conference tool so so can chat and see the person at the other end. I've used FaceTime on the iPhone 4 and found it very useful for work and personal life.
All in all it looks like Apple have worked really hard to bring to us a device that is so easy to use and the development continues. There is rumour on the world wide web that Apple are going to release an iPad 3 later this year but I don't know how true that is.
You may look at the price of the iPad and think, WOW, thats expensive but trust me I have played around with various Android devices (iPad competitors), and found that the price you are paying is for  quality and reliability.

To sum up


If I had the money I would be queueing right now for the iPad 2 when it gets released in the UK. (25th March 2011), but unfortunately I don't have the money. I will have to wait a little longer.
